The Award Winning Millennium Gardens, surrounded by the romantic hornbeam cloister walk, proudly houses the world’s tallest box hedges and tucked away in an intimate courtyard, the pergola with a spectacular Wisteria, which is over 90 years old. The botanical marvels are nearly unending in this remarkable abundance of exotic flora.

Within the gardens, cross over an enchanting waterfall in the fernery and follow the River Walk to the double bridges where two rivers meet. While discovering the Secret Winter garden with a romantic thatched shelter, dominating a glade of snowdrops.

Discover the largest telescope in the world for 70 years, created by the 3rd Earl of Rosse which has been fully restored and sits in the centre of the grounds to be viewed by all who visit.

Travel back in time with the Parsons family, within our science centre to when Birr Castle was a hub of scientific discovery and innovation. The interactive galleries reveal the wonders of early photography, engineering and astronomy.

Group Rate: €6.50 for pre-booked groups of 15 or more. Guided Tours (1 hour) Advanced booking essential €25. Tours of Birr Castle with Science Centre & Desmesne 9.30am-12.30pm Mon-Sat : €18 per person from 7th-31st May and 8th July-31st August
